In 1933, Myron Scott photographed a few boys riding in crates with wheels down a bumpy hill by his house. He invited them to come back with friends for a bigger race the following week, and they returned with nineteen racers and drew quite a crowd. One of the boys had painted a number 7 on his car, stating it was the easiest number to draw. A photo of No. 7 has been used as the official Soap Box Derby logo ever since.
